Adventures in Libraryland: Long-time library staffer announces retirement

Thursday, February 5, 2009

What will we do without her?

That's the common reaction to the announcement that Priscilla McReynolds is retiring after 13 years at the Marshall Public Library.

Her impact is evident everywhere you look in the library. Her dedication to the library (only 19 years old itself) is admirable.

The expression "big shoes to fill" doesn't begin to cover it.

We wish only the best for Priscilla as she turns her attention to her new grandbaby and traveling with her daughter.

Please join us in congratulating Priscilla on Friday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by and help her last day be fun-filled -- and have some cake too!

Check it out

Wagon Trail Stories and Genealogy Open House -- Monday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.

Andrea Hatfield and Marvin Wilhite will present stories from the wagon trails. In addition, the library is very proud of our genealogy department and we want to show it off! Light refreshments will be served.

Family Fun Night: Valentine's Day for the Birds -- Thursday, Feb. 12, at 5:30 p.m.

It's all about the birds! You'll make a bagel feeder to take home and have one as a snack at the library.

Un-Valentine's Day for Teens -- Friday, Feb. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m.

We're having an Un-Valentine party for teens (grade six and above). Who needs ooey-gooey hearts and flowers to have a fun time? Come to the library (dressed in red and black, if desired) and get ready to put Cupid in his place. There will be chocolate.

Circle of days

Beginning 0n Feb. 19, Storytime Super and Family Read-Aloud are moving to Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. Storytime Super is appropriate for children of all ages with fun, stories, and crafts to take home with you. Family Read-Aloud is for children from grade three to age 92. This is the perfect time for older siblings to come to the library and be read to while the younger children are in storytime.
