Denzil B. Parker

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Denzil B. Parker, age 83, was reunited with his great-grandson, family and friends who have preceded him in Heaven on January 29, 2009, at home with his loved ones by his side. Denzil was born on June 1, 1925, in Malta Bend, MO, he was the first of eight children born to Bill and Idress Parker.

After serving in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman during WWII for six years and traveling around the world, Denzil came home and met the love of his life, Emma La June Green. United in marriage on August 19, 1950, they lived in the K.C. area. They soon built a house and moved to Blue Springs and started their family. Moving to Grain Valley in 1961, there was another addition to the family, this is where they raised their family of four.

Denzil worked for the Kansas City Metro, where he was a Bus Driver for 38 years. Denzil loved his garden, flowers and loved to type letters, fish and most of all jokes.

Denzil was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Denzil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, three daughters, Phyllis (Lee) Robinet, Frances (Doug) Chandler, Linda (Paul) Shroyer; one son, Paul (Debbie). 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, missing the birth of his first great-great-grandchild due in June.

Survived by three sisters, Wadean Holder, Pat Dowson, Helen McPherson and two brothers, Eddie and Jimmy Parker.

We are so thankful for the loving care that he received from Hospice, for the loving care from Pastor Ray, his good friend, and physician Dr. McKnelly.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his name to Crosscreek Baptist Church, Oak Grove, MO, and Crossroads Hospice.
