First it was in football, where the senior quarterback threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to give Windsor -- in a co-op arrangement with the neighboring district -- a 21-12 victory over the Greyhounds. Shoop then took his show to the hardwood, scoring 33 points in a Dec. 15 victory over Sweet Springs and 30 points Wednesday to give the Tigers an 82-74 decision in the first round of the Windsor Tournament.
At first it didn't appear as though Shoop had the 'Hounds' number. Behind 14 points from junior Nick Peeples, Sweet Springs took a one-point lead into halftime.
Then it was Green Ridge's turn. Shoop tallied eight points and sophomore Chris Pottorff and senior John Ebeling combined for 11 more as the Tigers doubled-up Sweet Springs during the third period, 24-12.
The 'Hounds tried to battle back, scoring 28 points during the final frame as junior Aaron Schlatweiler hit a pair of three-pointers and senior Craig Sims and junior Tyler Dohrman also struck from outside, but Green Ridge wouldn't falter.
Pottorff and sophomore Zak Tyler each made three shots and Shoop added nine points, making five of six from the free-throw line, to nail down the win.
Tyler finished with 19 points and Pottorff had 15 for the Tigers (6-7).
Peeples' 25 points topped Sweet Springs (6-9), which also got 14 points from Dohrman and 13 from junior Zach Thomas.
The 'Hounds will play today in the consolation semifinal round against Chilhowee, smacked by Tipton, 77-44.
