Wanda J. Elmore, 77, of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall. The Rev. Steve Raglin will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pianist Norma Root will accompany the Rev. Claude Fields. Pallbearers will be Stephen Aulgur, Teddy Geiser, Roger Morrow and Doug Root. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.
She was born June 29, 1931, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of the late Lester and Myrtle Garrison Jones. On Dec. 30, 1954, at Slocomb, Ala., she married James D. Elmore, who survives of the home. She was a resident of Marshall since 1963 and had been employed at Marshall Habilitation Center for 26 years before her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include one son, Timothy J. Elmore Sr. of Marshall; one daughter, Cheryl A. Morrow of Marshall; one brother, Bob L. Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Darling Elmore, and one brother, Donald Jones.
