Butler received the felony charge after passing a bad check in excess of $500.
The Sheriff's deputies were made aware of the warrant after receiving a call concerning maltreatment of a dog at his home.
The dog was chained up in the backyard with no food or water available. The dog's shelter was not properly insulated due to a lack of straw and a substantial hole in one wall. While Butler attended to the dog's needs, the officer learned of the warrant.
Butler was taken to Saline County Justice Facility after the officer took him into custody . He was later turned over to Pettis County authorities.
