2 area teens suffer minor injuries in head-on collision Saturday

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Dust kicked up by traffic on County Road 270 in Lafayette County may have been a contributing factor in a head-on collision Saturday, Jan. 24, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Trystin C. Threlkeld, 16, of Waverly, was eastbound near on County Road 270 near the intersection with County Road 401 about 1:40 p.m. He was following another vehicle when the 1989 Chevrolet he was driving collided with a 1995 Chevrolet driven by Tyler A. Jones, 16, of Waverly, troopers said.

Threlkeld, who was not wearing a safety belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken by personal vehicle to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, according to the report.

There was no mention in the report of injuries to Jones, but a passenger in his vehicle, Cassie Prior, 17, of Blackburn, suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Fitzgibbon Hospital. She was wearing a safety belt, troopers said.

Dust from the vehicle Threlkeld was following apparently obscured the vision of both drivers involved in the accident, according to the report.
