Ronnie R. Bird

Ronnie R. Bird, 66, of Slater, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home.

Private family services will be held. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to Slater Volunteer Fire Department or Slater Ambulance District.

Born July 16, 1942, in Mexico, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Lucille O'Rourke Bird. On Nov. 25, 1971, in Slater, he married Linda Melton, who survives of the home. He worked at Monnig Industries in Glasgow for 17 years until his retirement, and had resided in Slater since 1971, moving from Pilot Grove.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Verinda Rieves of Pilot Grove; two sons, Billy Winston of rural Gilliam and Dale Winston of Slater; five grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Bird of Mexico and Richard "Dickie" Bird of Fulton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Laboue.
