Lester C. Feuers, 90, of Slater, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater, with Fr. Michael W. Penn will officiating. Organist Bethany Weiker will accompany the congregation in singing "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "On Eagles' Wings." Weiker will accompany Barbara Thieman as she sings "The Lord's Prayer." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Hager, Chris Hager, Joe Medlin, Gevin Elder, Stacy Hager and Dan Rosenberg. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Heart Association in care of Weiker Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 5, 1918, in Osage County, he was the son of the late John Jacob Feuers and Dorthea Dahms Feuers. On April 12, 1944, in Shackelford, he married Anna M. Taaffe, who preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater. He retired from Skelly Oil Company after 37 years of service as a bulk oil dealer.

He is survived by two daughters, Glenna Lawson of Columbia and Rosanne Medlin of Chillicothe, Ohio; Elizabeth Simmermon of the home; seven grandchildren, Dee Elder, Larry Hager, Chris Hager, Paula Murphy, Katie Medlin, Erin Medlin and Joe Medlin; six great-grandchildren, Roxann Elder, Bryce Elder, Shannon Murphy, Sean Murphy, Jack Beckley and Emma Hager.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester Feuers, Andrew Feuers, Robert Feuers and Raymond Feuers; and four sisters, Opal Kays, Della Leimkuehler, Esther Thornton and Mabel Spradley.
