Wrong.
In an interesting turn of events, Phillips was recently notified that he was selected for the honor choir, and had previously been sent the wrong letter.
Apparently there were some problems with the organization's mail merge, and many students in many states were affected, Marshall High School choir teacher Ron Sayer said.
This honor is a nice addition to Phillips' already impressive resume.
In school, he participates in Choraliers, and he has also sung with the Marshall Community Chorus. He has been in 9-10 All-District Honor Choir the past two years and participated in district and state solo and ensemble festivals.
Phillips was also selected as part of the 9-10 Men's Honor Choir for the Southwestern Division of American Choral Directors Association convention last spring.
"Jacob is a fantastic student," Sayer said. "I wish there were more of him!"
In March, Phillips and Evans will spend a long weekend in Oklahoma City rehearsing and performing at the ACDA convention.
The national choir will perform, along with the National Junior High School Choir and National Collegiate Choir, as part of the 50th anniversary convention of the American Choral Director's Association to be held March 4-7.
