Sales tax revenue sees bump over same month last year

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

At their meeting Tuesday, Jan. 13, Saline County Commissioners presented the first sales tax report for 2009, noting an increase in collections over figures for January 2008 of about $2,400 for sales tax and about $7,200 for law enforcement tax.

Commissioners also announced that Jonna Taylor of Blackburn, a student at Saline County Career Center, has been selected to do an 80-hour practicum in the commission office. Taylor is the fourth student from SCCC to do a practicum with the commission.

In other business, commissioners approved a change in fund transfers to the State Employee Retirement Fund (SERF). Transfers will be made twice per month in 2009.

Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner said that if budget interviews with county officials continue to go well, the county budget will be ready to be laid for the public on Friday, Jan. 16.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the commission will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the commission office on the lower level of the courthouse.
