Katherine Ann Swisher
Katherine Ann Swisher, 80, of rural Marshall, MO, died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marshall, with Rev. John Swisher officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Katherine Ann Swisher Scholarship Fund at Central Methodist University or the local food bank. Born April 17, 1928, in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of the late Albert G. Robertson and Pearl Charles Robertson and was raised by her aunt, Fannie Mae Robertson. On August 9, 1950, she married Frank R. Swisher, who survives of the home. She had lived in Saline County most of her life, was a 1946 graduate of Marshall High School and a graduate of Central Methodist University in Fayette. Katherine Ann was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, AAUW, DAR and UDC. She was also active with the Democratic Party and served on the Saline County Democratic Central Committee.
Katherine Ann believed in our responsibility to give back to the community. She donated her time, energy and finances to the Clothes Closet so that folks in need would receive help. She loved people (especially babies) and cats. She relished a good book and delighted family and friends with her cooking expertise. One of her favorite occasions included a trip to Arrow Rock for dinner and the Lyceum Theater.
Additional survivors include her children, Martha Swisher of Bailey, CO, Al Swisher and wife, Sharon, of Marshall, Ginny Vanderpool and husband, Jack, of rural Marshall, Bob Swisher and wife, Kim, of Platte City, MO, and Stan Swisher and wife, Karen, of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Katie and Dana Swisher, Eric and Jacob Bradley, Elizabeth and John Roberts; one great-grandson, Cooper Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and aunt, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jimmy Swisher.
