Robert Gerald "Jerry" Vaught, 67, of Winchester, Tenn., formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held in Ridge Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Born Oct. 24, 1941, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Robert Earl Vaught and Genevieve Page Vaught, who survives of Modesto, Calif. On Feb. 14, 1998, he married Doreen E. Connelly, who survives of the home. He had lived in Winchester since March of 2007, moving from Kissimmee, Fla., previously living in Marshall. He had worked for MFA Grocery Store and Pro Gym while living in Marshall. He also worked for National Cash Register and Martin-Marietta in Orlando, Fla., and retired as a heavy equipment operator with the city of Kissimmee. He was an avid aviator and owner and restorer of classic airplanes. He was a lifetime member of the Antique Aircraft Association and was president of the Cessna 120/140 Association.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Connie Keller of North Kansas City; two sons, Greg Vaught of Marshall and Jacob Vaught and his wife, Rachel, of Denton, Texas; one stepson, Christopher Connelly and his wife, Angela, of Bargersville, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Sara Casey and her husband, Robert, of Thomasville, N.C.; four step-grandchildren; and one brother, Lloyd Vaught and his wife, Rosa, of Hughson, Calif.
