Ron Farrington Sr., 71, of Miami, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Marshall Family Worship Center in Marshall, with Rev. Mark Gooden officiating. Born April 1, 1937, in St. Joseph, he was the son of the late Faye Farrington and Emma Butler Farrington. On June 4, 1990, he married Karen Grandstaff Ussery, who survives of the home. He had lived in Miami the last year, moving from Marshall, where he had lived for seven years. He was a retired truck driver and was a chaplain assistant at Jackson County Jail in Kansas City. He had been a member of Hosanna Chapel in Independence, attended Marshall Family Worship Center and was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship.
Additional survivors include his four children, Ronald Dale Farrington Jr. and his wife, Misty, of Clarksdale, Rhonda Lynn Koerner and her husband, Robert, of St. Joseph, Tammy Renee Lanning of St. Joseph and Kimberly Clements of Salem, Va.; one stepdaughter, Tammy Wilson and her husband, Alan, of Miami; one stepson, Jackie Ussery Jr. and his fiancée, Stacy, of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Iola Riggs of St. Joseph; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson Rhoad and Elmer Lee Rhoad.
