I have been watching the episodes of the show and have been interested in how she represents our commmunity. I am sure the pressure is enormous and most would not do as well as she has. About the comment of "losers graduating from MHS"...I graduated from MHS and have a professional degree. I think it rather sad that community members have been so negative about Shannon and our community in general....it makes me wonder why they have a need to put others down?

We are avid Bachelor viewers and were excited to know that a Marshallite would be on this season. I know (of) her because she attended high school the same time as my kids. I think she deserves as much respect as the other candidates. I think she looked beautiful on the opening episode. The next episode, however, I felt she looked like she was worn out and tired. Yes, she comes across as quirky, a stalker and not too smart, but it's TV Come on folks. That's entertainment!

Shannon is a great girl and it takes courage to go on a show like the Bachelor and show all in front of millions. It is obvious the producers have chosen how they want her to be perceived, "the stalker," but we don't see all of the footage that is actually taped. As for rumors circulating about the outcome, that is all they are--rumors. Until I hear it directly from Shannon, I will keep on watching and not listen to the town hype. To Shannon-- keep on (tootsee) rollin'!!

Why would anyone want to know what happened until seeing it on tv for ones self. That would ruin the whole show! I really enjoy the show.

Pumpkin.. see where I said "sorry, cross post @ Syd's blog?" That's because I posted "read Syd's blog" and it got posted before Sydney posted "read my blog." In this case I wasn't trying to be a smart a**... I was TRYING to tell you where to go, so to speak, for the information you were looking for. In the mysterious world of computer postings, my post and Sydney's got put on this board around the same time.

Chill. It's television.

Tinaperkle...fyi...I did read her blog, if you had noticed what time I posted. You seem like a person who just likes to stir up crap....not worth my time. Good luck Shannon. Proud to know you.

-- Posted by pumpkin08 on Fri, Jan 9, 2009, at 10:22 PM

Im not kidding. Her aunts initials would be j.n. Would Shannon happen to have a ex-boy friend? Would you like me to tell you what happens? If I did it would probably be deleted. So there now.

-- Posted by marshallmoresident on Fri, Jan 9, 2009, at 5:55 PM

People! People! People! I can not believe some of the banter. It is TV- and they will spin it however they want to make you want to watch. They did the same thing in Survivor! We ought to have Shannon critique each episode to find out what really happened versus how they played it.

To Shannon- I am sure it was an experience you will never forget! Hope you had fun and hope they don't trash you too bad in the upcoming episodes! Hang in there!

Why you wanna tease like that, marshallmo?

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Fri, Jan 9, 2009, at 4:01 PM

Well the cat is out of the bag. Shannon's Aunt is telling people what happens. I wont tell what I know. But I think it b.s. that she told.. I dont think I will watch anymore of this show.

-- Posted by marshallmoresident on Fri, Jan 9, 2009, at 3:53 PM

Ahhhhhh yes. To be remembered for "partying." What a legacy to leave at an alma mater.

-- Posted by outacuriocity on Thu, Jan 8, 2009, at 11:34 AM

I want to wish you good luck on the show---although it is probably already taped and done with. I told my sons of your appearance on the show, and they both remembered you and your sister Jenny well from your high school partying years when we were in Marshall. They are both married with wonderful families, but I am sure they will be watching to see you on "The Bachelor". My oldest son is also going to college to pursue a career as a dental hygenist also. I'm sure your family is as proud of you as I am of mine.

tinaperkle- I know Shannon and she is such a sweet girl! It's your lack of knowledge about the show that makes you sound silly--Jokes on YOU! I see some jealousy...she was one of the 25 girls picked out of the entire US! The girls this season seem very classy. Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, a number of pageant queens, etc. I think a lot of girls would love to be in Shannon's shoes! Congratulations Shannon for making the top 25 in such a tough competition!! You have my vote!!!

Nice copy and paste job, awesomeness. I commented to this nonsense on the other place you posted it. But to review> Not envious, not from Marshall, was actually voted most talented, class clown and something else I can't remember my senior year of high school. I don't want to give much more away but I'll also drop this little nuggett of info: My name's not Tina Perkle.

I didn't go to MVC, don't have a biz degree... but have 2 others that I have used with much success. I watch the show to be entertained and am glad Shannon and other "hot messes" like her go on 'em so I can see the lengths people go to for their 15 minutes of fame. But when people asked yesterday if anyone watched it I said I did. When people asked how I thought she did I said I thought she came across a little psycho. And if you watched the previews for future episodes it seems she cries all the time because she's in loooooove with the dude she barely knows.

Seriously... it's television. It's reality television at that. Katherine Hepburn she's not.

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Wed, Jan 7, 2009, at 10:25 AM

I am going to assume "tinaperkle" was in school with Shannon and obviously did NOT hang out with her or anyone in the popular crowd. Considering how juvenile this "tinaperkle" is with the criticism she writes on this blog it is evident she is clearly envious. Unlike most of the losers who graduate high school from MHS and go to Missouri Valley College and get a "business degree" or drop-out, Shannon made something of herself and is successful with or without this show. "tinaperkle," if you are so irritated with the show and Shannon then simply don't watch it.

Sorry... cross post @ Syd's blog.

And PRD I understand reality TV... I also understand how "entertaining" it is. That's why I watch 'em. I also have been known to gawk at a car wreck... that doesn't mean I want to be in one.

But my opinion, and talk around the water cooler here, is she made a fool of herself. R

umor (on spoler blogs, etc.) is she makes it to the top 4, cries most every episode and generally is a psycho who gets WAY too in love with the dude WAY too soon and for the most part freaks her lid.

Read Sydney's blog, pumpkin

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Tue, Jan 6, 2009, at 2:29 PM

Thanks Sydney. That's basically what I meant...hadn't read your blog. Sorry.

-- Posted by pumpkin08 on Tue, Jan 6, 2009, at 1:39 PM

Shannon don't listen to them. They're not smart enough to understand "reality TV"...or the word ENTERTAIN.

I guess I must be a stalker too...wow I checked out my friends myspace page and now I know everything about him! Must be a stalker...hello people........he put the info out there to be read. Plus, he thought it was impressive and that's all that matters. Lighten up.

Will the newspaper be doing any follow up articles on the show once it has aired? You seemed pretty eager to find out of it was true she would be on the Bachelor, and I don't see any follow up from last nights show.

-- Posted by pumpkin08 on Tue, Jan 6, 2009, at 1:26 PM
Response by Sydney Stonner/Staff writer:
Shannon is not allowed to speak to the press until she is eliminated from the show or until it is over. But, she has agreed to an article once that happens. Here is a blog entry on the subject that I wrote today.

http://www.marshallnews.com/blogs/1304/e...

Well I watched it last night. And I'm ready to weigh in.

TRAIN WRECK. And in future episodes she seems to be a tad on the psycho/stalker side.

But I'm SURE that's just how the camera makes it look. "Hollywood" and all.

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Tue, Jan 6, 2009, at 9:58 AM

Im excited to watch the show! I havent seen Shannon since grade school! I wish you the best girl!!! Have fun!!

I hear the train a comin'

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Fri, Jan 2, 2009, at 10:08 AM

Hope she does better than the last person from Marshall that was on T.V. *Cough* Survivor

Calling all bachelor fans.....

This is Shannon responding to some posts above...

I'm not allowed to discuss the show in detail, but I would give anything for all fans to be able to see the "behind the scenes"! All I will say is that you cannot judge ANYONE from this show! There is a lot of editing...things you wouldn't even imagine. Just remember, HOLLYWOOD HAS ONE AGENDA AND THAT IS TO ENTERTAIN!! Thanks for all your support while watching the show!!

-- Posted by shannlbair on Wed, Dec 31, 2008, at 4:06 PM

She is a beautiful woman, but I saw from the preview on the website she does not start out that hot. The guy even calls her by the wrong name at one point. Didn't look to go for her, but she's representing Marshall so hopefully she does good. And if not, hey there are always plenty of bachelors in Marshall hahaha.

-- Posted by oldschool17 on Wed, Dec 31, 2008, at 2:59 PM

Maybe we should see if she conducts herself with class before we go praising her for landing a role on that show. Some of those gals are complete train wrecks. NOT SAYING this chick is, but she isn't playing the lead in Romeo and Juliet... she's on the Bachelor.

-- Posted by tinaperkle on Wed, Dec 31, 2008, at 10:07 AM

Shannon is a beautiful girl and I wish her the best! Congrats to parents, Mike & Brenda!!
