Charles Edward Jackson Jr., 60, of Liberty, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the services from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. He was born July 2, 1948, in Marshall, the son of Charles Edward Jackson Sr. and Betty Jean Samuels Jackson. He retired in 2007 as a car hauler from Allied Systems trucking transportation, where he was known to his friends as "Charlie." He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 41. He was married on Dec. 28, 1973, to Diane Dierking; they would have celebrated 35 years of marriage this year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Germany. He was an avid traveler and shared his trucking road experience with everyone. He knew the right places to stop and the right routes to take, knowing many people along the way. He was a man who spoke his piece and had presence of mind in tough or difficult situations. He enjoyed fishing, boating and his grandchildren. When he found something of interest, he shared it with others, including his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Diane of the home; two daughters, Angela J. Ladd and Rebecca L. Jackson, both of Liberty; one son, Brian M. Jackson and his wife, Melissa, of Liberty; his mother, Betty Jean Jackson of Sweet Springs; two sisters, Janet Kay Riley and her husband, Fred, of Marshall and Janice Faye Schloman of Lee's Summit; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Cheyanne, Joshua, Coleton and Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Jackson Sr.; one sister, Jeanette Raye Jackson; and his grandmother, Thelma Samuels.
