Maj. Bradley Harvey couldn't be with his family on Thanksgiving Day because he is stationed in Afghanistan.

But he, along with many other troops, received a special visit on the holiday from Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., and other members of the bipartisan Congressional delegation touring the area.

Harvey, who graduated from Marshall High School in 1989, is now a civil engineer in the Army.

He has worked in Bosnia and Germany and served two tours in Iraq in his 13 years with the military.

Harvey's wife, Cindy, and children, Claire and Ethan, live in Texas now, but his parents, Larry and Karen Harvey, live in Nelson.

Karen said she doesn't talk to her son very much, but he sends e-mail sometimes.

Harvey does keep in close touch with his wife and kids, which, Karen said, "is more important."
