Helen Lucille Bennett, 87, of Anderson, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Freeman Hospital in Neosho.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Peace Lutheran Church in Slater, with Rev. Mark Hass officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Marshall. She was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Pleasant Green, the daughter of Marion A. and Nora L. (Highbarger) Schrader. She married Robert Bennett in 1939 in Marshall. She worked for International Shoe Factory in Marshall for several years. She was a talented musician and could play just about any instrument, including the violin, piano, organ, harp, banjo and guitar. She was a member of the House of Prayer in Rogers, Ark.
Helen is survived by four daughters, Janet Funk of Carrollton, Annetta Byrd of Slater, Nylena Bennett of Anderson, and Beverly Moore of Anderson; two sons, Roger Bennett and wife, Sue, of Carrollton and Earl Bennett of Marshall; 38 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Roberta Riley and Lillian Heather; one son, Robert Bennett Jr.; and two sisters, Florence McComis and Marion Frey.
