Danny E. Widder, 70, of Sweet Springs, and long-time resident of Ulysses, Kan., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Round Rock, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. Pastor Jack Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sweet Springs Historical Society c/o Campbell Lewis Funeral Home, 226 S. Odell, Marshall, MO 65340.
He was born July 16, 1938, the son of Glenn and Elsie Widder of Sweet Springs. He married Sandra L. Boyd on Sept. 24, 1961. He was a graduate of Central Missouri State University. He also served in the armed forces. During his school years in Sweet Springs, he worked for Dekalb Seed Company as a detasseler starting at the age of 12. He retired from Dekalb after 38 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Danny Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Ulysses Kan., Michael and his wife, Cami, of Erie, Colo., Jeffrey and his wife, Kayleen, of O'Fallon and Jennifer and husband, Rick, of Neosho; seven grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Moore of Sweet Springs; and one nephew.
