Juan R. Argueta, 48, was taken by ambulance to Moberly Regional Medical Center, troopers said.
The accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. when the 2004 Pontiac driven by Argueta apparently crossed the center line about one-tenth of a mile west of Moberly and collided with a 1999 Ford driven by Greg E. Jaecques of Cairo, troopers said.
Jaecques also suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Argueta's car then collided with a third vehicle, a 1996 Dodge driven by Aurelio Davila Pagan, 22, of Marshall. Pagan was not reported injured in the crash, according to the report.
Argueta's Pontiac was considered a total loss and Jaecques' car received extensive damage. Both were towed from the scene.
Pagan's car received moderate damage but was driven from the scene, according to the report.
All three drivers were wearing safety belts, according to troopers.
Moberly police and Randolph County sheriff's deputies assisted at the scene.
