Lucile V. Howerton, 77, of Marshall, formerly of Miami and Brunswick, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at her home, with her good friend and companion Ray Swan beside her.
Cremation. Inurnment will be in Miami Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Miami Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.
She was born on March 26, 1931, in Alton, Ill., the daughter of the late Scott Phillip Strohkirch and Janette Lynch Strohkirch. On June 20, 1953, she married Karl Lindsey Howerton, who preceded her in death in April 1993. She was a homemaker and worked as a caregiver for most of her life.
Survivors include one son, Russell Boyd Howerton of Brunswick; two daughters, Kathy Ann Reische of Brunswick and Karen Lee Wilson of Miami; one sister, Muriel Weinreich of rural Marshall; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Sue Duncan; two brothers; and two sisters.
