Irene Prugh Schieszer, 89, of Columbia, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at University Hospital & Clinics in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born Nov. 22, 1919, in Sinkin, in Shannon County, she was the daughter of the late Fred H. Prugh and Florence Estelle Morrow Prugh. She was a 1938 graduate of Napton High School. On Oct. 6, 1939, in Marshall, she married Kenneth M. Dille. On Jan. 24, 1960, in Kansas City, she married August N. Schieszer, who preceded her in death on July 28, 1985. She had lived in Kansas City, from 1939 to 1959 when she returned to Marshall. She had worked at Electric Storage Battery Company and Encyclopedia Britannica in Kansas City, and retired from Marshall Habilitation Center in 1982, where she had worked for 17 years. She was a member of Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church and its Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of Association of Retired Missouri State Employees.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Anna Zimmerman and her husband, Elmer, of rural Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Estelle Prugh.
