Jarvis F. Tresler Sr., 72, of Waverly, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at University Hospital & Clinics in Columbia.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with Rev. Bert Hughes officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Gibson Funeral Home in Waverly. The family suggests contributions be made to the family's choice in memory of Jarvis. He was born June 4, 1936, in Waverly, the son of William and Anna Lee (Curry) Tresler. He attended schools in Waverly and Grand Pass. He married Texas Leaon Looney on Aug. 16, 1993, in California; she survives of the home. He was a heavy construction laborer. He was a member of Southwest Christian Church, and had served in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Jarvis Tresler Jr. of Hancock, Iowa, Vernon Lee Tresler of Marshall, Marvin Dale Tresler of Marshall and Sandra Sue Spencer of Topeka, Kan.; one brother, Carl Russell Tresler of Independence; one sister, Marion Riddle; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
