Clifton Emery "Cliff" Moss, 87, of Marshall, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at University Hospital & Clinics in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Oct. 14, 1921, in Bearden, Ark., he was the son of the late George Moss and Ruby Woods Moss. He was a graduate of Bearden High School in Bearden. On May 7, 1981, he married Karen Marie Ratliff, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall since the 1960s and was a plasterer for many years, retiring from Marshall Habilitation Center in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a Methodist. He enjoyed his coffee club at McDonald's.
Additional survivors include two sons, Clifton Moss Jr. and his wife, Johnnie, of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles K. Moss and his wife, Verlinda, of Independence; two daughters, Caron Diane Williams of Kansas City and Carri Hazell and her husband, Scot, of Marshall; six grandchildren, Lori McDaniel, Akin Moss, Chase Moss, Janae Moss, Arionne Williams and Emery Hazell; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Savannah "Penny" Moss of the state of California; one brother, Donald Moss of the state of California; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Clarence Moss; three sisters, Charlotte Jacobs, Ruby Moe and Vivian Childs; and two brothers, Edward Moss and Charles "Sonny" Moss.
