Holiday briefs: Christmas season events in Saline County

Thursday, Dec. 4

The Missouri Valley College Department of Theatre, Music and Dance will present their annual Celebration of Christmas Music Show at 7:30 p.m. in the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre. Admission is free. Donations are welcomed at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. for seating.

Friday, Dec. 5

The Marshall Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade will start 7 p.m. at the intersection North Street and Odell Avenue and will go around the square. Prizes for parade entries include $100 for first prize, $50 for second prize and $25 for third prize. The theme this year is "Small Town Christmas Memories."

Saturday, Dec. 6

Slater Christmas Homes Tour will be Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon for the Cantlin home and noon to 5 p.m. for the Stockman, Stephens, Gratian and Messer homes.

Admission is $10 for adults, free for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefit Slater Senior Center. Tickets may be purchased at Slater Senior Center, State Bank of Slater, Slater General Store, Marshall Senior Center, Square Corner in Marshall or at the homes the day of the tour.

As an added attraction, Pop's Garage will also be included on the tour.

Sunday, Dec. 7

Christmas "Pops" concert with the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra and the Marshall Community Chorus, 2:30 p.m. in the Harold L. Lickey Auditorium, Bueker Middle School.

Christmas Folk Sing featuring Cathy Barton and Dave Para, 4 p.m. at Federated Church in Arrow Rock. Freewill donation accepted.

Friday, Dec. 12

Kansas City Southern Holiday Express (aka "Santa Train") in Marshall at 4 p.m., Lyon Street crossing.

Saturday, Dec. 13

"The Glorious Sounds of the Season" with the Marshall Community Chorus and guest singers from the Marshall High School Choraliers and Singers, 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 78 S. Odell Ave. in Marshall.

Sunday, Dec. 14

"The Glorious Sounds of the Season" with the Marshall Community Chorus and guest singers from the Marshall High School Choraliers and Singers, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 78 S. Odell Ave. in Marshall.

Wednesday, Dec. 17

The Marshall High School choirs present their annual Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Bueker Middle School auditorium. The concert features 200 students singing songs of the season.

Kansas City Southern Holiday Express (aka "Santa Train") in Slater at 4 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 20

Community Holiday Dinner at St. Peter Catholic Church parish hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
