The money came from a grant from Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which gives about $6,000 annually to the Marshall Wal-Mart to use for donations, estimated Mike Fleener, co-manager of the Marshall Wal-Mart.
A number of organizations apply for donations from Wal-Mart, and Garry Goldammer chooses which applications to approve.
The money will go into CASA's general fund, and will be used to "provide kids with safe homes … to protect kids in trouble through no fault of their own," said Bill Jackson, general manager of AGRIServices of Brunswick, who received the check on behalf of CASA.
CASA serves 200 children annually in Lafayette and Saline Counties, said Jackson.
