Norman Eugene "Gene" Rayl, 74-year-old resident of Sportsman Shores (Langley), Okla., died early Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Langley.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to family choice. He was born March 16, 1934, in Warrensburg, the son of Norman and Nell Irene (Siron) Rayl. He was married to Doris Earline Hubbs on March 28, 1970, in Independence. They had lived in the Grand Lake area for the past four years, moving to Oklahoma from Houstonia. He was a farmer for over 42 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith, loved to fix things, go hunting and fishing for catfish.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; two daughters, Susan Marie Dougan and her husband, Vernon, of Sedalia and Karen Rayl of Green Ridge; two brothers, Richard Rayl of Texas and Jack Rayl of Sweet Springs; two sisters, Dorothy Rayl of the state of Missouri and Janet Singer of Green Ridge; two grandchildren, Katie Dougan and Brian Rayl; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Norma Jean Rayl.
