Betty L. Clemens, 69, of rural Marshall, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Boone Hospital Cancer Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall, with Rev. Douglas A. Dubisar officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Choir or Fitzgibbon Cancer Center in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
On Sept. 15, 1939, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Melvin C. Steinkuhler and Erna C. Bodenstab Steinkuhler. She was a 1957 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On Sept. 3, 1960, she married George R. Clemens, who survives of the home. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and was co-owner and operator of Clemens Pool & Spa. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the church choir and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a member of Monday Club, Laureate Mu Society chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Valley Women's Organization. She was inducted into Missouri Valley College Women's Hall of Fame in 2003.
Additional survivors include one son, Tim Clemens and his wife, Gwen, of rural Marshall; two daughters, Kris Soetaert and her husband, Dave, of Mount Vernon and Amber Ballenger and her husband, Jonathan, of rural Marshall; six grandchildren, Tyler Clemens and his wife, Shannon, Breinne Clemens, Korey Pryer, Madison Soetaert, Morgan Soetaert and Laney Ballenger; one brother, Jerry Steinkuhler and his wife, Judy, of rural Concordia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Myrna Loy Steinkuhler.
