Patricia L. Reker, 65, of Waverly, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at St. Luke United Church of Christ in Grand Pass. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Mount Nebo Cemetery in Grand Pass. Born March 17, 1943, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Kenneth J. Meachem and Rosemary Datz Meachem. On Aug. 22, 1966, she married Merlyn Reker, who survives of the home. She had lived in Grand Pass and Waverly most of her life and was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and a former member of its choir and Women's Fellowship. She was a graduate of Horton Watkins High School in LaDue and then attended Missouri Valley College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education. She taught special education in the Sweet Springs School District and at Marshall Habilitation Center and worked as a librarian at Trails Ridge Library in Waverly.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl A. Christofferson of North Kansas City; two grandsons, Noah and Seth Christofferson; one brother, Kenneth J. Meachem II of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.
