Saline County sheriff's deputies are investigating a second business burglary near Sweet Springs several days after a contractor reported a break-in and theft from a construction site near there.
The second burglary occurred at Lafarge Quarry between 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, according to the report, and between the loss of a equipment and damage to facilities, the cost is estimated by company officials to exceed $50,000, deputies said.
Evidence at the scene suggested the property damage might have been done by someone with knowledge of the facility, according to the report.
Company officials reported that a number of tools and other items were out of place and estimated the perpetrator might have been at the facility for eight to 10 hours.
Missing items include a CB radio, CB radio antennas and a box of gloves valued at $400.

The State Patrol on most nights of the week ends their shift at midnight...so that is a true statement. Only on 1 or 2 nights a week does the Patrol stay on until 2 or 3.
2 or 3 deputies would help, how could they not when you have more people in more places. Duh.
Doubtful that it could have been prvented by more than one road deputy. Theives come up with ways to steal if they want to steal. Two or even three deputies on the county roads would not make much of an impact given the wide expanse of our county. Besides that the State Patrol also helps with overnight patrols so that is not entirely a true statement.
Maybe thefts like this could be prevented if there was more than one Saline County road deputy on duty overnight to patrol the whole county.
