Fritz "Boss" Korte, 93, of Pilot Grove, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove, with Rev. Gary Trotnie officiating. Burial will be in Peninsula Cemetery near Blackwater. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bradley Korte, Ken Brownfield, Kevin Brownfield, John Korte, Darrell Kusgen and James Brownfield. Memorials can be made to Peninsula Cemetery.
He was born April 18, 1915, in La Monte, to Gilbert and Helena C. Sieckman Korte. He was married to Maggie Racy on Aug. 30, 1939; she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1997. He lived most of his life in the Pilot Grove community, doing farm work. He moved to Pilot Grove in 1990.
He is survived by two sons, Glenn Korte and Wayne Korte and his wife, Verna, of Pilot Grove; one daughter, Phyllis Brownfield of Pilot Grove; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger Korte of Pilot Grove, Ben Korte of California and June Korte of Aurora; and two sisters, Frances Adams and Viola Heislen of Marshall.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers; and four sisters.
