Herbert Christopher "Chris" Pittman Jr., 36, of Columbia, formerly of Marshall, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born July 15, 1972, in Waverly, he was the son of Herbert Christopher Pittman Sr., who survives of Malta Bend, and the late Goldie Ruth Womack Pittman. He was a 1990 graduate of Santa Fe High School in Alma, was a supervisor at Excel Meat Company in Marshall and had served as a policeman with Marshall Police Department. He was a graduate of Missouri Sheriff Police Academy at Missouri Valley College and had served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his father, survivors include one son, Jordan Pittman of the home; one daughter, Lillian Pittman of Columbia; one brother, Richard Pittman of Malta Bend; one sister, Paula Heaper of Marshall; four half-sisters, Denise Culpepper of Harrisonville, Rhonda Chin of Lee's Summit, Renee Hampton of Kansas City and Angie Pittman of Bentonville, Ark.; one half-brother, Robert Pittman of Vivian, La.; two nieces, Rachel Heaper and Makayla Heaper; his companion, Megan Upschulte and her daughter, Riley, of the home; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
