Malta Bend man held pending theft, resisting arrest charges

A rural Malta Bend man was arrested Saturday, Oct. 25, on charges he stole a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, drove it into a cornfield and set the vehicle on fire.

The man is also accused of resisting arrest by fleeing and was being held Monday morning, Oct. 27, at Saline County Justice Facility pending the filing of criminal charges.

We've inquired several times, but so far, no charges and no prediction of when they might be filed.

We have checked with local law enforcement authorities several times. No formal charges have yet been filed.
