A Malta Bend man was charged Tuesday, Oct. 7, with class B felony first-degree assault after an incident early that morning during which he allegedly struck another man with a metal baseball bat.
Jerry Lee Young, 50, was arrested by the Saline County sheriff's deputies after a woman reported the incident just before 3 a.m. and deputies located the victim, who had fled the scene.
Young was held on a $10,000 cash-only bond with the condition that he have no contact with either the alleged assault victim or the woman who reported the incident, according to unofficial online court records.
The male victim suffered a cut on his head, according to deputies, and was treated at Fitzgibbon Hospital and released, according to the report.
