John (Brent) Cook, 68, of Marshall, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at his home.
Memorial services with military rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com
Born March 25, 1940, in Marshall, he was the son of the late William E. (Bill) Cook and Dorothy Giger Cook of Marshall, who survives. He was a 1958 graduate of Marshall High School. On October 15, 1961, he married Barbara Mathews who survives of the home. He returned to Marshall in 2003, moving from Las Vegas, Nev., and retired as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and receiving the bronze star. He had also worked for Sam's Town Casino for 15 years.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Michelle Synsteby of Marshall and Tracy Cook of Bussey, Iowa; two sons, John Brent Cook II of Las Vegas, Nev. and Michael Cook of Marshall; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
