Sweet Springs woman hurt in 1-car wreck

A 59-year-old Sweet Springs woman suffered moderate injuries Friday, Sept. 12, when her car struck a median barrier at the Missouri River bridge on Highway 13 in Lafayette County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Karen L. Ballou was taken by ambulance to Lafayette County Regional Hospital, according to the report.

The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. when the car Ballou was driving hydroplaned and went off the right side of the road, troopers said.

She was wearing a safety belt, and no summons was issued, according to the report.
