The Marshall High School Booster Club is solving that problem by offering Booster Club Season Sports Passes.
The new passes enable parents and fans a chance to purchase one pass to get them into most 2008-2009 sporting events at the high school, ranging from football to baseball.
A combined Missouri Valley College and MHS sports pass is also available. The MHS individual passes are on sale for $50; MHS family passes are on sale for $100 and the combined MVC-MHS family passes are on sale for $175.
As this is the first year for the season passes, MHS Activities Director Scott Latham said they are still getting the word out.
"People really don't realize they're out there yet," he said.
Those purchasing the passes will receive a card they can carry in their wallet or purse that will cover admission to most of the games in the 2008-2009 season.
The only activities they will not be good for include any district or state playoff games, school musicals or plays. The MVC-MHS passes are also good for any Valley games except theatre productions, national playoff games or rodeos.
"(The pass) will get them (into) any regular season contests," said Latham.
The money from the sales will go partially to the MHS Booster Club and partially to the sports teams to cover the "gate portion" of the sales.
Latham said the Booster Club's part of the money goes directly back to the students at MHS by supporting sports teams, academic teams, the drama department, national competitions, as well as the MHS band and choir.
"Booster Club supports the school," said Latham, adding that coaches or sponsors come to him for requests for uniforms, sweats or other equipment and he lets the Booster Club know what is needed.
Regular booster club memberships are also available for $15 for individuals and $25 for families. Sponsorships are also available from $50 to $200 levels.
In the past few years, the Booster Club has donated up to $20,000 to support MHS activities.
The season passes will be available for purchase at MHS home games and at the MHS concession games on Friday night home football games. They can also be purchased by calling Latham at MHS, 660-886-2244.
The next MHS Booster Club meeting will be held on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in the MHS commons. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend the meetings.
