Malta Bend man accused of killing dog appears in court

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Christopher L. Stover, 32, of Malta Bend, appeared Wednesday, Sept. 3, before Judge James T. "Tut" Bellamy in Division 6 court, in connection with the death of a 3-month-old Labrador puppy in August.

Stover was charged with killing the animal, which belonged to a Slater family, by striking it several times with a hammer and a wooden board, then running it over several times with a pickup truck and finally discarding the still-living puppy in a culvert along County Road 128.

The case was continued to Oct. 15.

If convicted, Stover could face up to a year in jail and fine of up to $1,000.

a mental eval would be a good suggestion for the court to make!

Chris may not have angry at all. He could be one of those people who enjoyed what he did. I got angry at a dog recently in my neighborhood when I caught it tearing up a trash bag I had just put at the curbside. I just yelled some cuss words at it and chased at it a few feet. I bet this guy thoroughly enjoyed the power he had over destroying this helpless life. Chris Stover, you are one sick individual and I am so very happy that EVERYONE knows it.

This is the second time the crime has been described in detail in the paper. Such a despicable act deserves consequences, but is it necessary to post it more than once? It just gets everybody worked up.

How could someone do something so cruel?? I think his punishment should be being struck several times with a hammer and a wooden board, then be run over several times with a pickup truck and finally be discarded in a culvert along a county road. Of course our judicial system could not order such punishment as it would be deemed cruel and unusual.

If a man is that extreme with his temperment, he needs treatment! He could do the same thing to a human being! But he sounds cowardly! And you can't do much about that!

Lock him up for the year, Give him a fine better then that, and never let him have a dog or any other rights in life such as carrying a gun! You should pay for your actions on this one

I can't believe that anyone would do this to a helpless little dog, let alone a "grown" man. I hope that he doesn't have children! I think Judge Bellamy should give him an extreme fine, and some time in jail!!!
