Daniel L. Boggs, 51, of Slater, was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated following an accident on Missouri Highway 41, south of County Road AC, on Monday evening, Aug. 25.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boggs was northbound on Highway 41 in a 1977 Volkswagen when he struck a deer and exited the right side of the roadway.

Boggs sustained minor injuries; a passenger in the vehicle, Laura K. Boggs, 43, also of Slater, sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital by Saline County EMS; both were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.

The car sustained minor damage.
