Fern Adelle Vaught, 83, of Sweet Springs, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to Lexington Village Hospice or family choice. Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Blackburn, she was the daughter of the late Leonard W. Rehkop and Hilda C. Taylor Rehkop. On Dec. 7, 1941, she married Frances Vaught, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1986. She had lived in Sweet Springs her entire life and was a member of First Christian Church. She worked at International Shoe Co. in Sweet Springs until it closed and then retired from Rival Manufacturing. In addition to being a homemaker, she and her husband served as caretakers of the Sweet Springs City Park for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Francis "Frany" Vaught and his wife, Willa, of Sweet Springs and Darrell Vaught of Odessa; two daughters, Barbara Day and her husband, Loren, of Bates City and Sharon Wall of Grain Valley; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Taylor "Tom" Rehkop and Vernard "Barney" Rehkop, both of state of Florida; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy Gene Wall, and one sister, Virginia "Jenny" Smith.
