WARRENSBURG -- Marshall junior Morgan Lamberson successfully defended her title Tuesday at the Warrensburg Invitational.

The only difference this time for Lamberson, who medaled at last year's MSHSAA Class 2 Girls' Golf Championships, was that she had to share first place with Lee's Summit North junior McCall Christopher -- both coming in with an 11-over-par 82.

That was three strokes higher than Lamberson's score at Hidden Pines Country Club a year ago, but was still displayed a consistent 18 holes. Lamberson made par 10 times, had five bogeys and did no worse than double bogey any hole.

Despite Lamberson's winning performance, the Lady Owls finished ninth among 14 teams with a 432. They lowered their team score by 10 strokes from last year, which was also a ninth-place finish.

However, there were only two other Class 1 teams in the field, and Marshall came out ahead of both of its District 4 foes -- Clinton coming in 11th at 469 and Sacred Heart 14th at 509.

Senior Jade Jenkins birdied the par 2 No. 2 hole, but shot over par the rest of the time to arrive with a 110 for 39th place.

Junior Marti Coldiron posted a 116 for 43rd place in the field of 66 golfers.

Other than Lamberson, junior Cassie Hemeyer was the only Lady Owl to have been in the same tournament last year -- and her 47th-place 124 was four strokes higher than her previous score.

Freshman Payton Ehrhardt debuted with a 136 for 53rd place.

Rock Bridge had four players shoot 96 or better to take the team championship at 368, winning a tiebreaker with the Lady Broncos. Third-place Liberty was only two strokes off the pace at 370.

Marshall will be at home Tuesday for its first dual match of the season, when it meets NCMC rival Moberly at Indian Foothills Golf Course.
