Commission reports decline in business license renewals

At their regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 19, Saline County Commissioners noted the non-renewal of more than 70 business licenses, with a value of about $2,300.

Commissioners pointed out, however, that in most cases, the non-renewals represent business name changes that resulted in a new license issued, or businesses from out of town that don't do much business with the county to begin with.

Northern District Commissioner Norvelle "Brownie" Brown attended the regular monthly meeting of the Regional Planning Commission in Concordia at 1:30 p.m. today; Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner attended the Solid Waste Management meeting Tuesday morning, also in Concordia.

The next regular meeting of the commission will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m. in the commission office on the lower level of the courthouse.
