Waverly man seriously hurt in 1-vehicle accident Aug. 17

Enrique G. Toledo, 35, of Waverly, was seriously injured Sunday, Aug. 17, in an early morning accident on U.S. Highway 65 west of Grand Pass.

Toledo was northbound on U.S. 65 in a 2004 Ford when the vehicle exited the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, then became airborne and struck another embankment before coming to rest. Damage to the vehicle was extensive.

Toledo, who was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, was transported to University Hospital, Columbia, by Air Evac.

Investigation of the accident continues.
