Autopsy results show cause of death for teens killed in July 3 collision

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Saline County Coroner Willie Harlow reported Thursday morning, Aug. 14, that he has received autopsy results on two Marshall teens who were killed July 3 when their SUV collided with a tree on South Salt Pond Avenue.

For Stephanie Rapp, 15, who died about six hours after the accident at a Columbia hospital, the cause of death was massive head trauma, Harlow said.

For Christian Argueta, 18, who died at the scene of the crash, the cause of death was a severed aorta, he said.

Autopsy results also confirmed that Argueta apparently had lost consciousness prior to the collision, as was reported to Missouri State Highway Patrol officers investigating the accident by the lone survivor, Derian Martin, 15, of Marshall.
