Born Jan. 28, 1936, in Miami, he was the son of the late Cyrus Crete Malan and Frieda Enetta Mehrhoff Malan. On May 19, 1978, he married Maria M. DelBosque Gonzalez, who survives of the home. He had lived at the Marshall Junction the last 18 years, moving from Alice, Texas, and was a retired truck driver and mechanic.
Additional survivors include his seven children, James Malan and Tom Malan, both of Marshall, Frieda Tsunakawa of Dallas, Texas, Enetta Malan of Marshall, Nicole Malan of Columbia, Levi Malan of Marshall and Lana Malan of Grandview; three step-children, Israel Gonzalez of Moberly, Melissa Lively of East Dublin, Ga., and Francisco Gonzalez of Dallas; several grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Malan of Miami and Roger Malan of Springfield; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Malan.
