Alice M. Sapp, 97, of Slater, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Rev. Pam Sebastian officiating. Connie Clements, organist, will play "Whispering Hope." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Guthrie, William Horgan, Tom Boehner and Phil Sebastian. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Steinmetz, Glen Sullivan, Gene Phelps and Gerald Kitchen. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Slater Presbyterian Church.
Born July 29, 1911, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Millard F. and Eva Reeder Sapp. She was a member and elder of Slater Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a 1929 graduate of Slater High School. She worked at Maneke Bakery in Slater, Town & Country Shoe Co., Mattingly Bros. and Slater Variety Store.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Sapp and Derl Sapp, and one sister, Carrie Martin.
