William Harold "Red" Madison, 77, of Waverly, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany, with Rev. Jerry Curry officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Victory Christian Fellowship in Waverly and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roberson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Bethany. Memorials may be made to Lafayette County Cancer Coalition, Victory Christian Fellowship or Mt. Olivet Cemetery in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born March 19, 1931, in Bethany, he was the son of the late Ross Madison and Katholeen Justice Madison. He grew up in Bethany and married Norma Marie Brown on Jan. 28, 1950; she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2006. He retired from KC 4 as a diesel mechanic in 1990. After retirement he spent his days with his grandkids, mowing on his riding lawn mower and restoring old tractors. He loved being around his family, camping on the farm in Bethany and fishing on the river.

Survivors include three sons, John Madison and his wife, Lee, of Malta Bend, Mike Madison and his wife, Sheree, and Jake Madison and his wife, Melissa, all of Waverly; two daughters, Anna Marie Tracy and her husband, Gary, of Waverly and Susan "Falfa" Johnson and her husband, Leigh, of Malta Bend; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Darryl Madison and Hubert Madison, both of Bethany, and Charlie Madison of Pattonsburg; three sisters, Doretta Youngman, Helen Youngman and Phronsie Conway, all of Bethany; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Betsy Madison; one son, Dennis Gene Madison; and three brothers, Bob Madison, Lee Madison and James Madison.
