Gilliam man hurt in 1-car accident Sunday morning

A Gilliam man suffered moderate injuries Sunday morning, Aug. 3, when his car left the road and collided with a fence and a tree, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened on Highway PP nearly a mile east of County Road 129 about 8:50 a.m. The car Austin W. Miller, 20, was driving went off the right side of the road. He overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, went down an embankment and struck a fence and a tree, according to the report.

Miller was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall where he was treated and released and then transported to the Saline County Justice Center, according to the report.

He was cited for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and no seat belt, according to the report.
