Frances C. "Fannie" Brame, 89, of Slater, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Slater United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jess Spurgin and Rev. Penny Smith officiating. Connie Clements, organist, and Bethany Weiker, pianist, will accompany the congregation in singing, "Abide With Me," "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Be Still My Soul." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Blumhorst, Charlie Guthrie, John Markovich, Jason Weiker, Mike Reyna and Don Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Morton, Tom Usnick, Geary Norris and John Dale. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Mabel Hall Senter. On Sept. 19, 1937, in Waverly, she married Raymond Brame, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1980. She was a longtime member, and organist for 57 years, at Slater United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women and the Kum Join Us Sunday School class. She was an original member of the board of directors of Big Bend Retreat in 1968 and served until 2002, the last 10 years as chairman of the board. She was a longtime member and organist of Slater Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. She served nine years on the Slater Public School Board. She worked as a deputy in Saline County assessor's office for many years. She worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin Store and Slater Variety store. She gave private piano and organ lessons for 30 years.
She is survived by one grandson, Jeff Brame and his wife, Laura, of Kansas City; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher and Rachel; and one daughter-in-law, Kay Brame of Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Reed Brame; one granddaughter, Pamela Fray; and two brothers.
