Billy Joseph Knotts Sr., 63, of Lebanon, formerly of Marshall, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Burial in National Cemetery in Higginsville will be held at a later date.
He was born June 2, 1945, in Kansas City, the son of Mary (Petty) Knotts, who survives of Warsaw, and the late Eugene Knotts. He joined the army right after High School and later went to college to study drafting. Two of his seven children and two of his four grandchildren followed in his shoes, Billy Joseph Knotts Jr., who joined the National Guard and is now stationed in Kosovo; Michael Shane Knotts, who joined the army and is now stationed in Korea; Nicole McGuire, who joined the National Guard; and Christian Blankenship, who joined the Marines.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, George Knotts and his wife, Ethel, of Kansas City and Larry Knotts and his wife, Twilia, of Kansas City; three sons, Billy Knotts Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Miami, David Knotts of Elkhart, Ind., and Michael Knotts of Bosworth; four daughters, Windy Blankenship and her husband, Mike, of Mexico, Enda "Angel" Filbert of Elkhart, Julia "Misty" Smoot and her husband, Larry, of Carrollton and Holly Knotts of Cole Camp; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Knotts; one nephew, Lester "Little Les" Knotts; and one grandson, Skylar Joseph Knotts.
