Saline County Fair: Buie, Jenkins claim top honors in county fair sheep show

A small number of exhibitors showed a large number of ewes, lambs and bucks at the Saline County Fair Sheep Show on Thursday, July 17.

Vivian Buie of the Bizy Beavers 4-H Club of Marshall won High Point Exhibitor and showed the Grand Champion Ewe and Grand Champion Ram.

Tyler Jenkins, also a Bizy Beavers member, showed the Grand Champion Market Lamb and Reserve Champion Ewe. He won Junior (ages 8-11) Showmanship and was named second High Point Exhibitor.

Jade Jenkins, a Marshall FFA member, won Reserve Champion Market Lamb honors. She also showed the Reserve Champion Ram and was named Senior (ages 16-21) Showmanship winner.

Matti Page had the Champion Suffolk Ewe. Buie showed the Champion Hampshire Ewe and Champion Natural Ewe. Tyler Jenkins showed the Champion Crossbreed Ewe.

The results of the market lambs are below in the order of placing.

Class II: Jade Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Vivian Buie, Vivian Buie, Vivian Buie.

Class III: Tyler Jenkins, Vivian Buie, Emma Montgomery.

Special T-shirts for all exhibitors were provide by Saline County Farm Bureau. The judge for the show was Brian Anderson of Coffeyville, Kan.
